Kickin’ With Mickey! ‘Deep Dives’ At Disney Dreamers Academy! #DDA2014

100_3233Disney Dreamers Academy students, Cara Treacy from Chester Springs, PA. and Rachel Woods from Clayton, NC., have big dreams. These two young ladies wish to have a career in the Performing Arts area of Dance. I had the extreme pleasure to shadow them on their Dream ‘Deep Dive’. At Disney Dreamers Academy, Dreamers have the opportunity to learn about the careers they’re thinking about pursuing from professionals in those fields. These sessions, known as Deep Dives, range from acting to business to journalism.

We start our ‘Deep Dive’ at Disney Hollywood Studios. At the Theater of the Stars, our Dreamers were treated to a showing of Beauty and the Beast.

deep dive 1 You all know the story… A young selfish prince is turned into ‘The Beast’ by an enchantress. Belle is beautiful, but a little different. She refuses to marry Gaston and later finds herself in Beast’s castle. Through the ups and down, Belle learns to care for Beast and in the end… The curse is broken. Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage! is a Broadway style Musical with the original songs and characters.

Following the show, the Dreamers were treated to a meet and greet with the cast members  and a mentoring session by the Disney dancers who come from a wide range of backgrounds.

deep dive 2 Now, as if that was not a dream come true for these young ladies, Next they were escorted to the Fantasmic! rehearsal hall. There Staging Specialists, Bill Balfanz and Sherri Pooley treated the girls to a master class in ‘Disney Dance’ styles.

These remarkable students took on the task to learn this special dance routine. In one impressive hour they had all the steps and turns down pat. Trust me, this was such an amazing accomplishment in my eyes. This was a real routine that dancers do with Mickey. Oh! By the way, this dream ‘Deep Dive’ is not over because…. WAIT FOR IT….. The Boss Mouse showed up to dance with the girls!

A Surprise Dance Partner for Students at Disney Dreamers Academy Now that is inspiring!

As this ‘Deep Dive’ comes to a close, I am impressed with the genuine enthusiasm and care given by the cast members to facilitate and nurture these girls dreams. I am sure this will be a memory that will be with them always.

There was just no way I could follow all the students on their ‘Deep Dives’, but I was lucky they provided pictures of others.

Next time, I will share some more Dreamer students with you and I am sure you will see why I am so impressed with them and their dreams.
