May is Lupus Awareness Month! #CURELUPUS #Powerof10

lupusSymptomsI want to talk about a friend who has been viciously attacked. She battles daily against a constant barrage of pain. Her adversary does not care if she is white, black, or any other race. Doesn’t care if she is male, female, young, or old.You see… all it cares about is assaulting and antagonizing her senses, mind, and body.

This wicked invader is LUPUS! She is in constant warfare with this disease. She is my hero because she may feel like giving up sometimes… she never does and continues to battle on. I really hate the fact I dont tell her as often as I should, how much I respect her tenacity and spirit. So Edwina… This one is for YOU!

Lupus, is a chronic, complex and serious autoimmune disease affecting more than 1.5 million Americans. Nine out of 10 people with lupus are women. In lupus, the immune system, which is designed to protect against infection, creates antibodies that attack the body’s own tissues and organs — the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs, blood, skin, and joints. Lupus is difficult to diagnose, difficult to treat, and a leading cause of premature cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and stroke among young women.

  13. I have Lupus and I hate it. I hate how it takes so much from a persons life. How we are always exhausted and try to stay away from people. It’s not because we are mean or unsocial but your sniffle or unwashed hands can be deadly for me. Tolerance is so needed for this world just to be nicer. I am so impressed with you and how your right there for your friend. Your a treasure. Thank you for sharing.
