I want to talk about a friend who has been viciously attacked. She battles daily against a constant barrage of pain. Her adversary does not care if she is white, black, or any other race. Doesn’t care if she is male, female, young, or old.You see… all it cares about is assaulting and antagonizing her senses, mind, and body.
This wicked invader is LUPUS! She is in constant warfare with this disease. She is my hero because she may feel like giving up sometimes… she never does and continues to battle on. I really hate the fact I dont tell her as often as I should, how much I respect her tenacity and spirit. So Edwina… This one is for YOU!
Lupus, is a chronic, complex and serious autoimmune disease affecting more than 1.5 million Americans. Nine out of 10 people with lupus are women. In lupus, the immune system, which is designed to protect against infection, creates antibodies that attack the body’s own tissues and organs — the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs, blood, skin, and joints. Lupus is difficult to diagnose, difficult to treat, and a leading cause of premature cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and stroke among young women.
Help me Celebrate Lupus Awareness month. Join the Power of 10 awareness program. Share this link (www.powerof10.lupusny.org) with 10 people, and ask those 10 to do the same. The goal is for 1 million people to learn about lupus and how they can help. The Power of 10 puts the power of lupus awareness into your hands! You hold the Power of 10! Email, post on your Facebook page, and tweet to pass on this link to share information about lupus to your network of friends.
Lupus awareness is in your hands!
