Pine Mountain Theater is Arkansas’ first and most attended family show. Dave and Dee Drennon first opened the PINE MOUNTAIN THEATER in July, 1975. In 2005, after 31 consecutive seasons, Dave and Dee decided to retire. Mike Bishop took over as emcee and producer. With 40 years of fun and foot-stomping music under one roof, you know this was a must stop for us on our trip.
Mike (who is also President of the Chamber of Commerce) and his wife Dale, have spent the last 9 years (6 nights a week) carrying on the traditions of family fun and great music at the theater. They both have a long history in music … The even met at Dogpatch USA where they were performing. Mike shared with me some thoughts on the show.
“Its a typical Ozark show. We have a good variety of music. We do a little Southern Gospel pre-show and a little warmup before. My wife does a lot of comedy in the show. We try to be a little original and don’t have an actual identified comedian. We are all comedians,” Mike said. He added, ” We do some stage routines that incorporate the whole cast. I have a great crew with super talent that does their level best every night.”
Speaking of his talented crew… besides Mike and Dale, there is Kenneth Sharp, John Morrison, Andy Oberg, and Ted Snow. All are friendly and extremely talented. Now On with the show…
You know, they did the song, YMCA.
Seems like they have a new one called AARP!
This was a very entertaining show. I think my mascara was running because I laughed so hard a couple of times. The variety of music will make any music lover happy.
A really great performance and they definately met with The MOM’s approval!
I want to thank Mike Bishop and Pine Mountain Theater for having us.
