So you all know I love taking fun trips. Branson is one of our fave destinations. Each Fall we take THE MOM on a trip. She adores Branson so since the woman turns 75 this year (matter of fact her birthday is in just a few days), you know we have to take her. I think we have a great visit set up this year.
Here is what we have in the works
Doug Gabriel #1 Hits Tribute Show
Plus his famous Mufftar (a guitar made out of a 1969 Thunderbird muffler)!
#1 Hits of the 60’s
(you might remember Sister and I saw his show last year, we know The MOM will love it)
Country Legend Mel Tillis
(Plus I have a secret I will tell later in this post)
(Yeah I got another secret I will tell later in this post)
Amazing Acrobats of Shanghai
World’s Largest Toy Museum
I was born and raised Country so I have made it my quest to see, meet and visit with many of the legends and stars in Country music as I can. This trip is special since…
Wait for it…
The secret #1
Not only will we be seeing Mel Tillis, I will be visiting with him before the show. Mel has recorded more than 60 albums. He has had thirty-six Top Ten singles, with nine of them going to Number One – “Good Woman Blues,” “Coca Cola Cowboy,” and “Southern Rain” to mention a few. Mel has also written well over 1,000 songs, and approximately 600 have been recorded by major artists. The following is a list of a few of those songs and artists:
“Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town” Kenny Rogers
“Detroit City” Bobby Bare
“Emotions” Brenda Lee
“I Ain’t Never” Webb Pierce
“Burning Memories” Ray Price
“Thoughts of a Fool” George Strait
“Honey (Open That Door)” Ricky Skaggs
Now Secret #2
You may have guessed… I get to do a sit down with Billy Dean also! Billy Dean first gained attention after appearing on the television talent competition called Star Search. Here are just a few of his hits…
“Only Here for a Little While”, “Somewhere in My Broken Heart”, “Billy the Kid”, “If There Hadn’t Been You”, “Tryin’ to Hide a Fire in the Dark”, “We Just Disagree”, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”, “Let Them Be Little”.
To say I am excited about this is, well…. an understatement.
I still have a long list of Star Meets I want before I can’t travel anymore. So after this trip in September is complete…. How about George Strait, Reba McEntire, Lady Antebellum,
How about You my best readers… Have you met or Who would you like to meet in the music business?
