Rootin’ Tootin’ Good Time! Tours and Museums!

100_2108There are some awesome tours and museums in  Deadwood, South Dakota and the surrounding areas.

I mean… well, the entire city of Deadwood is a national historic landmark.

So let’s look at the best way to become aquainted with Deadwood!!!

Alkali Ike Tours is a fun way to see the town along with some great history and stories by Mike, our guide. I add that this is the way to go if you intend to visit the Mt Moriah Cemetary due to the fact only tour busses are allowed to drive thru. Otherwise you have to explore by foot since cars are not allowed. This is the final resting place of many noted residents like Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane.

cemetary On this tour you will see the interesting downtown Deadwood and the beautiful buildings. Let’s not forget the umm… ladies of the evening that still hang around in the upper floors (they just don’t move around much now… lol)

ladies Now, I could go on and on about this tour, but I must leave something for you to discover on your own!!!

Another place you wont want to miss is the Days of 76 Museum! Spectacular way to honor the pioneers of this area. So much history is wrapped up in this building and I soooo recommend seeing this! Here is just a smidgen’ of what we saw…

This museum has the largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles in the state along with Old West Pioneer and American Indian artifacts, archives, and firearms! Find so much more when you visit this museum!!!!!
